Rose and silver

East Of Scotland Premier League side Linlithgow Rose couldn’t quite force a Scottish Cup upset against Championship side Raith Rovers at a packed Prestonfield.
The maroon and white home side went to-to-toe with Rovers in front of a sell-out crowd and can consider themselves somewhat hard done by after a penalty shout was waved away and a good chance at goal missed by Mark Stowe.
Ex-Hibernian forward Jamie Gullan put the tie to bed with two second half goals in a fourth round match played in a competitive spirit which followed Darvel’s giant-killing of Aberdeen the previous night.
Gordon Herd’s Rose will now turn their attentions to claiming silverware in the league and promotion to the Lowland League.
